Why this site exists
Most cat-tech reviews are written from a press release and a product photo. The numbers that actually decide whether you regret a purchase — what the unit costs to run for five years, how it fails, whether the “drawer interval” figure was measured for one cat or three, whether the consumables are proprietary — are buried in a manual, scattered across forum threads, or missing entirely.
We pull those numbers out and put them side by side. That is the whole idea. A compact comparison table that answers “which of these two should I buy, and what will it cost me” is worth more than another two thousand words of impressions.

Our editorial standard
We do not own or physically test every product we write about, and we never claim that we have.
That sentence is on the site deliberately, and it is unusual. Most review sites imply more hands-on experience than they have. We took the opposite route: describe the method precisely, label anything we could not verify, and let you decide how much weight to place on it.
What we actually do:
- Read the manufacturer’s own documentation. Specifications, weight ranges, drawer intervals, and consumable pricing come from the maker’s site, manual, or support pages. When a figure is not published, we say so instead of estimating.
- Aggregate owner reporting. We read reviews and community threads across retailers, forums, and support communities, then look for patterns. One angry review is noise; the same failure described by forty owners is a signal.
- Model the cost of ownership. Purchase price is not the cost of a product. We model consumables, replacement parts, and service life over a realistic ownership window.
- Cross-check claims against each other. When a spec sheet says one thing and owner reports say another, we report the conflict rather than picking the flattering number.

Who writes this
kittynex is run by a small independent editorial operation. Content is researched and written by the site operator with the assistance of research tooling for gathering and organising published sources; every published claim is checked against the sources listed at the bottom of the article.
We do not use AI to fabricate experience. We do not generate invented test results, invented owner quotes, or invented prices. Where automation helps, it is in collecting public information and comparing it — not in making things up. The research method and the sourcing requirement apply to every article equally.
How we make money
